Your Business Toolkit

This is one of my all time favorite books. In the last few months I’ve been doing a ton of research on being better at monetizing my energies over the internet. This would be the first place I point anyone! There is a ton of junk out there: junk blogs, junk gurus, and junk information products. Four Hour Work Week provides you with real resources, real websites, and real stories to get you and your business where you’d like to see it. I don’t want to say too much more because this was really one of my favorites so far.
Change happens all around us, everyday. I loved this book! It follows four characters through a maze (literally) as they chase their cheese. The four characters are basically the different parts of all us that mobilize when we see change is coming. It’s a very short and fun story to read – literally done in a few hours. The books message can be applied to any aspect of our lives but as a business owner adapting to change on the fly and in a positive way is important – that’s how we stay innovative. Please give this book a once over because the story and its message will definitely stay with you.

The Beginners System for Writing Funded Grant Proposals
I’m a huge supporter of all things non-profit. I’ve volunteered (and continue to do so) my time on boards that range from Boy’s and Girl’s Clubs to Alzheimer Association Walks (with amazing people like Kris Chapel). In some of my roles I’ve had to serve as the grant writer in most cases because I had the most experience with proposal or even just creating business documents. This was a huge challenge for me as I know grant writing is what people do as full time careers. For those grants though I picked up books, searched the web, and copied what I thought were decent templates and molded them. I had no idea what I was doing. I did come across this e-book though that was a tremendous help. I thought it was worth mentioning here because it can apply to anyone looking to grants for funding. Pamela Grow (I know a little cheesy) really does do a great job of presenting material in an easy to use and repeatable way. I’m a huge fan and now advocate. With the download you get free trackers as well to keep you honest during the process.
Not everything here at Financially Digital is always entrepreneurial in content – definitely in spirit though : ) I have recently referred a few personal finance clients to Guerrilla Resumes and they’ve really enjoyed it so I thought it was worth sharing with all of you. This e-book is all about helping people finding jobs in really creative and aggressive ways. It’s not just templates to use with eye catching designs – it really isn’t. There is a ton of material, free and paid, on the internet about finding jobs and writing resumes. Most is regurgitated stuff people hear from career services and from their guidance counselors. The guys that put this stuff together have been featured all over media: CBS, WSJ, FOX, NBC, etc. They are experts and I hate to say that because it sounds so cheesy. There’s a ton of other content that comes with this download so it’s definitely worth a look if you are thinking about changing jobs in our slow changing job-scape. I really encourage you to check out their stuff because it absolutely has the Financially Digital stamp of approval (and awesome!)
Remember to always have business cards handy. You never know who you might connect with.
